    "Bistro Cajun"

"A Cajun Bistro" - New Orleans

This family of 4 gets seated right in the middle of a Brunch rush, and immediately I can tell this table is PACKED with winners. The first thing they do as the hostess sits them at my table is point at a table in a closed section, asking for that. Once the hostess informs them that the section is closed, they hesistate for a second, contemplating the dire news. Finally, with a sigh, they take their seats at my table and my brunch hell begins.

When I first approach the table, I am barely able to utter my gretting "Hi, how are y'all doing today? My name is...." when someone at the table interupts me with "I will have a unsweet iced tea, xtra ice, no lemon, she will have ... (blah blah blah). Alright, great start. I grab the drinks, and return to take their appetizer order. Once ordered, I bring over some side plates, noticing that most if not all the drinks were in need of refills. By the time I get back with refills and stop by my other tables to check on how they were doing and if I could get them anything else, the table is ready to order their main courses. Lucky for me they decide to choose some of the most expensive items on the menu.

Appertizers come up, they love them, more drink refills of course, and snap to it. The entrees come out, and they love it! Not a single problem in the world. Finally, I drop off some dessert menus, and let them peruse them at their leisure. Only one dessert to my surprise, and no coffees. I drop off the check, and the bill ended up being 133.55, not bad for a table of 4 in a midrange restaurant. I wait, and make sure my other tables are taken care of, while camping on that check at the same time. Lady hands me the check, and tells me to keep the change. I thank her and her family for patronizing our establishment, and invite them back before I check out the bill.. well, she wasn't being sarcastic... I take a peak into the check presenter to find to my surprise (HA!!) that there is exactly 134.00 even in there. $0.45 on a $133 bill. WOW, thanks lady.

Had the manager go over and ask how the service was and what they thought of their meal. They raved about me, telling the manager I was an asset to the restaurant. People like this perpetuate a stereotype and make good waiters like myself and several people on this website contemplate leaving the business.
